Goodbye School for 2013!

We are officially on winter holiday and it feels soooo good! This has felt like a long stretch - most likely because we started back to school the second week in August.

Over the next three weeks, we are going to take the time to just be. Be in the moment, be with our boys, be with each other, be in new countries, be content, be joyful, be open to new experiences, just.be.

On Tuesday night, we leave for a vacation 9 months in the making. We are SO excited for this trip and realize that for us, it's a trip of a lifetime. In two and a half weeks, we will visit Syndey, Australia, drive an RV around the southern island of New Zealand and spend New Years back in the Gold Coast, Australia.

When we moved over here, Australia and New Zealand quickly became "must dos" on our list because they are easier to get to than they are from the states. While it's already quite the spendy trip (and we haven't even left yet!), it is one that we know we couldn't afford not to do. AND while there are things I really like about this continent, I must admit that I am also happy to be getting out of Asia for a few weeks.

In talking to people around work today, there was a tinge of envy every time someone announced that they were "going home" for the holidays. There is nothing like being home for the holidays and it's hard knowing Christmas traditions will carry on without us there. It's the normalcy of expat life... great vacations and getaways to places you never thought you'd visit, but still a pull to be home.

Here's hoping all of our loved ones near and far can find time this Christmas to just be.

We love & miss you!
