One month down!

We are into our 2nd month in Singapore. It's seems like I was just writing our post from the end of week 1. I feel like we're adjusting pretty well to our new lives here and continue to try and enjoy each day and the newness that comes with it. Some things that have now become routine for us are:

  • Taking the train to the grocery store
  • Sweating by the time we get to work
  • Swimming every day after school
  • Finding new places to go via train routes
  • Ordering our drinks from one place while food from another (routine, yes, but still drives me nuts!)
  • Having a warm house with a light breeze during the day and wonderful air conditioning in the evenings
  • Not having my coffee every morning
  • Luke swimming multiple times a day
  • Feeling like we're always on "vacation"
  • Drinking luke warm water most of the time
  • Asking for "ice water" at restaurants so they don't give you hot water.
  • Walking a ton

Things we miss:
  • Our family (including Ella)
  • Friends back home
  • Cool air in the mornings and evenings
  • Coffee! Starbucks on the way to work (although the staff latte machine will work just as well)
  • A yard for the boys
  • Golfing
  • Running in fresh, cool air
  • Needing to wear long sleeves or a light jacket
  • Being able to call our family and friends whenever we want

We are thankful that we live in Singapore and for the experiences we are getting here. Not only that, but for the people we've met. I would be lying if I said it was all bliss, because it's not. But then again, when are things ever ALL bliss? There are always bumps in the road, frustrating moments and times you wish you could wrap your arms around the familiar...but the new experiences, sights, places and time together as a family trump all of the hard stuff.

Let the school year begin!
