Never Say Never: Mother's Day

I feel honored to be the mom of two wonderful, spunky, thoughtful, funny, kind boys. Today we celebrated the day at the zoo. We took our little monkeys to have breakfast with the orangutans, followed by a walk through the zoo and playing at the waterpark. We are wiped tonight after a couple more hours of swimming in the pool this afternoon. It's 8pm, boys are asleep and we're all headed there soon. What a fun day...and yes, it was humid, but the sun was shining for all of it!

The big news of course, is that Nanny flew in last night! She's spending the next month with us and helping to take care of the boys. A lot of the stress last week came from the realization that we needed to let our helper go. It was a difficult process on some levels, bizarre on others considering she's lived with us for 9 months, and relieving on many levels. She moved out Saturday morning and our new helper will move in 3 weeks from now. She is coming to our family from another SAIS family. Nanny is our saving grace during this transition, will probably get tired of hearing "thank you" from us, and will likely miss her quiet, relaxing evenings at home. Ha! That said, I know she will love the everyday, routine things with the boys. AND they will love it too. We are so grateful she is here. A million times grateful.

Deep breaths. While not always easy, change can be a good thing. The end of year one is in sight. Unbelievable!
