Our summer is quickly coming to an end. :( While it's ending a few weeks shorter than what we're used to, we definitely feel like we had an amazing summer. Our time in Oregon with friends and family was so much fun. Ending it with a move to Singapore and settling in here has provided our family with new experiences, challenging moments and an exciting year ahead.
On Friday we spent the evening with my friend Ellen and her family. She taught at Bonny Slope with me. Her family moved to Singapore a year ago and they are teaching at another International School over here. It was SO nice to see friendly, familiar faces. We had fun catching up, while the kids played non-stop.
Saturday was a lazy day in the pool with some friends. In the evening, we (along with Alex, Jill & Ella) went down near the Marina Bay Sands to watch the rehearsals for National Day. National Day here is on August 9th (what a fun way to celebrate my birthday and our anniversary!) but they hold rehearsals for it every Saturday for a few months before hand. The rehearsals are not what you would typically expect....there are 9 jets that fly overhead and do all sorts of amazing (and loud) tricks, there is a parade, boats that are lit up, dancers, music and a fireworks show. It was fun to be down on the water watching it all. Luke & Ella held their ears the entire time, while Drew wasn't phased a bit by the noise. On National Day the crowds will be much bigger and I've heard everything we saw will be on a bigger scale too. I can't even imagine the money that goes into each rehearsal! What a fun night to experience.
Tomorrow is back to work for Adam and I. I'm a little worried about the boys adjusting to us being gone all day. We'll all get used to it - this is a hard transition every year. It's comforting to know the school is just a minute away from our house.

| We love this sign in the MRT stations... No smoking, no eating/drinking, no flammable goods, no Dorians (one might think a Dorian is a bomb by looking at the picture, but it's actually a VERY smelly piece of fruit. Ha!) |
