Knowing is half the battle...

After a 2 hour Skype conversation, we now know that Adam will be mentoring teachers and helping them (well, us) link our lessons to content standards. SAIS (our school) is working to align their math curriculum to the standards and use data to drive instruction. Adam will work extensively with staff and administration to link student progress/grading with the relevant standards. In addition, he will work with students during math extension time.

On a side note - I must mention how PROUD I am of Adam. Tomorrow night wraps up his Administrative Licensure Credential. He started it one month before we had Drew and he has put in a great amount of time and effort. He is so well respected at his school and it shows. In fact, he received a district letter in the mail yesterday that ended with "We look forward to your return in the Fall of 2014." How's that for GREAT NEWS?

What will you be teaching?

Adam's Job... many people (including us!) are curious as to what Adam's job will be. After the break he'll have a Skype session with the Elementary Director to figure out exactly what he will be doing. We'll let you know as soon as we find out...ha!

A BIG thing checked off our list this week was the boys' passports. Here are their pictures...too cute!

Leavin' On a Jet Plane...

Airline tickets are purchased! We officially leave the United States on Thursday, July 19th...deep breath...this makes it all so much more real. That means a week from Monday, we only have 4 months left! Can't believe it. 


The boys were officially accepted into Stamford (yay!) and we are in the process of applying for employment passes (work Visas essentially). Everyone we've had contact with at the school has been extremely helpful and nice. We are feeling so fortunate that this is where we ended up! 


Next up is talking to an agent about housing. Ironically there were 2 House Hunters International on this week (families looking for rentals) and one episode showed housing specifically in the area of our school. Fun to see what's out there. One thing we know of...there will be no shortage of things to do in Singapore!

Preparing for a wild ride...

Well...here we go. We are Singapore bound in 4 short months! It's a bittersweet time as we prepare to leave our friends and family, yet we are so excited for our next adventure. Right now we are busy completing admissions forms for the boys, passport paperwork and figuring out what we'll be taking and what will stay behind. One thing that definitely won't stay behind is Ella. At the moment, Luke is very excited about moving to Singapore (keep in mind he has NO idea how far it really is), but he is very concerned with how Ella will get there by herself on an airplane.

We hope this blog will provide a link between us and our family & friends here in the states. For now, we'll continue to take deep breaths as we prepare for the adventure of a lifetime!
